Actor Chow Yun-Fat does the unthinkable, comes clean about having plastic surgery on the eyelids
Enlarge picture
At 53, Hong Kong-born Chow Yun-Fat still ranks among the best looking men in Hollywood. However, there is a secret to his charm and appeal with the ladies, and he is now more than willing to talk about it, unlike other stars who would deny everything within an inch of their life. Chow Yun-Fat has had plastic surgery on his eyelids, as he himself has admitted during a recent press conference.

NOTE:chow yun-fat has had a plastic surgery on his eyelid, these is the secret to his carm and appeal w/ the ladies.

Whereas women in Hollywood are extremely coy about speaking on topics such as how they maintain their beauty, let alone openly admitting to having had work done, the "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" star is not at all ashamed to have had plastic surgery on his face. Speaking at a press conference in South Korea on the occasion of the launch of "Dragonball: Evolution," Chow Yun-Fat has come clean about his past visits to the doctor's.

"As I grew older, my eyelids began to droop. I began going for cosmetic surgery in Hong Kong when I was filming 'The God Of Gamblers' in 1989." the 53-year-old actor says. Far from being ashamed of this, or trying to hide it in any way, the actor has even joked with the media representatives present, adding, "If you go to Hong Kong for cosmetic surgery, I can introduce you to the doctor. He's cheap and good."

Another celebrity to have recently made the headlines about plastic surgery is Tameka Foster, Usher's wife. She flew to Brazil for a tummy tuck but, unfortunately, in her case, something went terribly bad even before she got to go under the knife. According to reports in the media, Tameka went into cardiac and respiratory arrest while she was anesthetized, and the surgery never went through as scheduled.

NOTE: according to the report tameka , went into cardiac.

While she is now in stable condition and has already left the hospital to return to the US, it is believed that the surgery scare was brought about by her lying to the doctors about the time passed since she had a baby. "After a pregnancy, the abdomen muscle is violently stretched, becomes flaccid and swells. The patient needs six to eight months to return to normal and only then can undergo surgery." President of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, Jose Tariki, pinpointed for the media, hinting that Tameka lied about this, as she had only had a baby two months before.

Two Prominent Cosmetic Surgery Websites Add Detailed Information About Breast Implant Dimensions

Dr. Loftus, the highly acclaimed plastic surgeon who authored The Smart Woman's Guide to Plastic Surgery, has recently added to her popular websites some important information on breast implants.

NOTE: DR. loftus, the highly acclaimed plastic sergery.

(1888PressRelease) February 27, 2009 - Breast implants come in numerous sizes, shapes, and dimensions, to meet the needs of all women. The most popular of all implants are medium (regular) projection implants, both saline and silicone. Women who wish to have larger implants than their breast diameters accommodate, often choose to have high profile breast implants. High profile breast implants (also called HP implants), have a smaller diameter and greater projection than regular projection implants of the same volume.

NOTE: women who wish to have a larger implant than their breats diameters accommodate.

Both silicone breast implants and saline breast implants are made in regular and high profiles. In order to provide the details of breast implant dimensions to all women considering breast augmentation, Dr. Loftus has posted this information on both of her website. Moreover, this information is in the form of a downloadable pdf file!

More details and a link to the downloadable pdf files can be found here:

Cosmetic surgery? Buyer beware, expert says

By Megan Rauscher

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - The cosmetic procedure business is booming but an expert in the field warns that people thinking of getting a tummy tuck, face lift, or wrinkles filled should do their homework first.

"There are a lot of people doing cosmetic procedures; some are very skilled and some are not. It's really 'buyer beware' in this instance," Dr. Jeffrey Dover, president-elect of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), noted in a telephone interview with Reuters Health.

NOTE: DR. jeffrey dover was the president-elect of the american society for dermatologic surgery.(ASDS).

Earlier this month, it was reported that Tameka Foster, the wife of R&B singer Usher, suffered a heart attack as a result of anesthesia in preparation for liposuction. And in November 2007, Donda West, mother of rap star Kanye West, died following a breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction.

The key is to go to someone who is reputable, has a lot of experience, "and someone who is recommended by your primary care physician or by a state or national society or by someone you trust," Dover said. "I personally think you should go to a physician who is a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon," he added.

NOTE:The wife of R$B singer Usher , in novenber 2007, donda west.

Before having a cosmetic procedure, Dover recommends patients ask these specific questions of the person performing the procedure: How long have you been doing this particular procedure? Where did you train? What are you board certified in? How many of these specific cases have you done?

For example, Dover said: "If you're going to have a filler procedure done, ask: How many filler procedures have you done? How many with this exact filler and would you mind if I spoke to someone who has had it done in your office just to double check?"

"If at any point, with those questions, the doctor flinches or doesn't give you a good answer and you lose any form of trust it's time to get up and walk out," Dover said.

In the end, Dover said, it pays to "be cautious, be prudent, ask, check, hesitate, and make sure you feel total trust in the person doing it. Just because you see an ad in the paper or a magazine doesn't mean the person is any good. Many patients don't distinguish a reported article from a paid advertisement."

And Dover advises against relying on price to make a decision, noting that medical procedures are not the time to shop around for a bargain. "You have one face, treat it with respect. I wouldn't negotiate on price, always negotiate on quality," Dover said.

Did Rebecca Romijn Have Mommy Makeover Plastic Surgery?
Posted on February 26th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Caitlin Miller

Model turned actress Rebecca Romijn gave birth to twins at the end of last year, leading many to speculate about a plastic surgery mommy makeover for the new mother.

The twins are the first children born to 36-year old Rebecca and her husband, 34-year old actor Jerry O'Connell, twin brother of actor Charlie O'Connell. As soon as Rebecca began stepping out without the twins, rumors began that the nearly 6-foot tall beauty had been under the knife to get her pre-baby body back to looking as good as it did when she played Mystique in the X-Men films.

NOTE: the twin actor was born to 36-year old rebcca and her husbund, rumors began that the nearly 6-foot.

A "Mommy Makeover" surgery usually includes a tummy tuck to help restore a post pregnancy belly to a firmer, flatter stomach, as well as a breast lift and/or augmentation that gives the mommy the full, perky breasts they lost due to breast feeding. (See Make Me Heal's story on a Mommy Makeover).

However, it would a little soon for the procedure, as plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden points out, "Rebecca Romijn does not appear to have undergone any surgery. She is only a few months after giving birth to twins, and appears to be healthy and exercising to lose the baby weight. No plastic surgeon in his or her right mind would operate so soon on this beauty after she just gave birth to twins."

NOTE: rebecca romijn she is few months after the giving birth to twins.

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia concedes that while a mommy makeover is a possibility, it is hard to tell given the loose-fitting clothing Rebecca has been sporting on her public outings, "Rebecca Romijn looks great, but she is in a loose jump suit."

Rebecca seems to be following in the footsteps of another celebrity mom with twins, Jennifer Lopez. JLo was another example of a mommy makeover rumor that Make Me Heal disproved. (See Make Me Heal's story on Jennifer Lopez' plastic surgery rumors).

Dr. Sherrell J. Aston is another plastic surgeon that agrees that Rebecca is regaining her shape without plastic surgery. He says, "There is no suggestion that Rebecca Romijin has had any cosmetic surgery and in my opinion she doesn't need it. She is regaining her shape naturally."

Make Me Heal wishes the new parents the best of luck with the difficult task of taking care of twins.

Watchdog nips cosmetic code in bud

Adam Cresswell, Health editor | February 28, 2009
Article from: The Australian

A PEAK body for cosmetic physicians says it is undaunted by a proposal by Australia's competition watchdog to deny authorisation to its code of practice, saying revisions to fix the objections are already under way.

The code, proposed by the 10-year-old Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, sets out various procedures to be followed by its members, including what advertising is appropriate and what doctors should tell potential patients about their experience performing a particular procedure.

NOTE: Australasian college of cosmetic sugery has asets the variuos procedures to be followed to its members.

But the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission issued a draft determination this week rejecting authorisation of the code, saying it had concerns the provisions would create too little public benefit and were too weak or clashed with existing state laws.

The announcement was quickly followed by a second dose of bad news for the cosmetic surgery sector: the publication by consumer organisation Choice of the results of a secret survey that found "appalling examples of unprofessional conduct" by cosmetic physicians.

Choice sent three women to 30 cosmetic surgery practices in Sydney and Brisbane, where they inquired about possible procedures to increase their breast size, siphon fat from their stomach or have Botox treatment.

The woman sent to ask for breast augmentation was told she stood a better chance of finding a boyfriend if she went ahead with the procedure, was given brochures offering loans to fund the procedure and was shown the breasts of a saleswoman in the practice as an example of the doctor's work.

The ACCS has condemned the examples highlighted by Choice, saying they amounted to "unacceptable practice" that would not be permitted under the terms of itscode.

One of the points of the ACCS code objected to by the ACCC related to patient testimonials. In its present form, the code allows a doctor to use patient testimonials if they feature the doctor's own patients and do not "create a misleading impression".

The ACCC says this is in conflict with Victorian legislation, which barred doctors using testimonials in advertising.

In addition, although a clause in the code requires ACCS members to tell patients how many times they have performed a procedure if that number is below 100, the ACCC also found this meant it is "likely that some patients would be receiving less information about the member's experience than they would" without the requirement.

The ACCS downplayed the significance of the ACCC's move, saying it already has other policies barring testimonials completely, and it is confident the code will be amended to the ACCC's satisfaction.

ACCS president Daniel Fleming says teething problems are to be expected, as the college is the first to submit its code of conduct to the ACCC for authorisation.

NNOTE:ACCS has move of the significance down played ,as the college is the first ti submit its code .

"We welcome the opportunity to enhance the code further because, by doing that, the purpose of the code -- to give consumers greater transparency and confidence -- will be best served," he says.

However, the ACCC's announcement has highlighted simmering tensions between the ACCS and other professional groups.

Howard Webster, president of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, claims the attempt to have the ACCC authorise the code is "part of the tactical battle the ACCS is pursuing".

Cosmetic surgery refers to treatments to alter a person's physical appearance that are not medically necessary, such as Botox injections to remove wrinkles.

Plastic and reconstructive surgery, by contrast, refers to treatments deemed integral to a patient's medical treatment, such as skin grafts after cancer surgery or to repair damage caused by injuries.

All accredited plastic surgeons are members of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, whose members complete a seven-year training program. Some plastic surgeons also perform cosmetic surgery and other non-medically necessary treatments.

In a submission last year to the ACCC about the ACCS's application, Webster pointed out that the "vast majority" of the ACCS's 150 members are not surgeons but general practitioners who practise in the area of cosmetic surgery.

He also pointed out that the ACCS has applied to the Australian Medical Council for cosmetic surgery to be recognised as a specialty in its own right -- a move that would grant the ACCS's members specialist status -- and the application to authorise thecode "should be seen in the context of these facts".

However, the ACCS disputes any suggestion that the extra surgical training done by plastic surgeons makes them more competent to perform cosmetic surgery, saying no cosmetic surgery training is accredited by the Australian Medical Council and its own training programs for ACCS members are more relevant.

Cosmetic Surgery Poses Risks

CHOICE, a consumer group exposing the seedy side of the cosmetic surgery industry and tricks doctors use to promote their services, says in a recently released study, wherein three would-be patients tested thirty surgeons in Brisbane and Sydney, reveals patients were often not adequately informed of the risks faced in having cosmetic surgery.

NOTE: the cosmetic sugery is having in the face and informed of the risks face.

According to Christopher Zinn, the spokesperson for CHOICE, one woman was offered a discount of $1700/-, if she allowed 'before and after' photos to be published on the Internet. Another was told breast implants would help her find a boyfriend, while as an example of the doctor's handiwork, one woman was shown the breasts of a sales consultant at the clinic.

CHOICE's secret operation discovered women seeking consultations for breast surgery, liposuction and botox were often not informed of all risks, while finance companies and brokers made expensive loan offers to potential patients.

Which is why, earlier this week, a Code of Conduct for cosmetic surgeons was rejected, as it failed to provide sufficient consumer protection.

Ten years ago, an inquiry recommended strict guidelines for the industry, which Sydney University Associate Professor Merrilyn Walton says have not been followed sufficiently, as of the 1000 cosmetic surgeons currently operating in Australia, many are GPs with no surgical training.

As Australians spend at least $130-million on breast augmentation and liposuction each year, CHOICE is advising people to research and educate themselves of potential risks before undergoing plastic surgery, as botched surgery has left some patients looking as if they have been mutilated. Patients should also check their doctor's qualifications and experience, before going in for any kind of surgery.

NOTE: INn the autralians spends at least $130-million , the patients shuold also check ther doctors.
